FAQs
Question 1: I’ve heard about DCVax®-L, what types of cancer can this vaccine be used to treat?
Answer 1: Currently, only patients with primary brain cancer (i.e., cancer that started in the brain) can be treated with DCVax®-L.
Question 2: I’ve heard about DCVax®-L, what types of cancer can this vaccine be used to treat?
Answer 2: The clinical trial is currently enrolling patients who:
• Have newly diagnosed Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM)
• Have not yet had their surgery to remove the tumor
• Are age 18 to 65
• Meet certain additional medical eligibility requirements
• Please contact the nearest clinical trial site listed above for further information regarding eligibility.
Question 3: I have had my tumor previously removed. Am I a candidate for treatment?
Answer 3: Unfortunately, no. At least some amount of tumor tissue is needed in order to manufacture the vaccine. Without such tumor tissue, DCVax®-L would not be able to be manufactured unless and until a tumor recurrence happens. Fresh tumor is required; pathology and other stored samples cannot be used at this point.
Question 4: Where are the clinical trials being conducted in the United States that are testing the DCVax®-L therapy?
Answer 4: Currently there are twelve sites in the United States that are enrolling patients for DCVax®-L vaccine treating newly diagnosed Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). For a list of the clinical trial sites, please click here.
